Teamser, I'll try and answer any questions you might have, but most of my experiences are from Saia out west. It's just run a bit differently out this way. Pay for Linehaul starts about .44CPM and tops at .50CPM after two years, City pay tops around $21/hour after the same time. Pretty close to Teamster wages, but not quite there. Equipment is pretty much all volvos which are in decent, not great, but decent shape. They're expanding to the midwest lately. They bought Clark Bros. in 2004 and The Midwest Connection at the tail end of 2006 for greater midwest presence. Health insurance is good, 401k is .50 cents on the dollar up to 6% and they strongly encourage participation.

Saia was owned by Yellow Freight until 2002 when they (and Jevic) were spun off into SCS Transportation. In 2006 SCS sold Jevic and renamed the whole company Saia, now we're on our own. (which is good)

Any other questions let me know.

I know what you mean, I called THEM back several times before I got a second interview and then hired, but it was well worth the effort.

Most any LTL job is going to be waaaaaaaaay better than OTR in terms of pay, working conditions and hometime.

I'll make $40k this year and I have one of the least demanding city bids at my terminal. I work 7.5-8.5 hrs day.
