Default Flatbed companies ??

All I've driven is flat beds.. Not that long but since '02, after I retired
from the real world.
Are there any flatbed companies that don't tarp ??
I got so tired of those sheetrock loads and tarping and un tarping .....
Folding and rolling in mud....
Now I'man older guy and love flatbeds but hate tarping..
Maybe hauling pipe if anyone knows of a good Co. ???
On 59 west of Houston there is that plastic pipe mfg... Who hauls for them ?? They only use a smoke tarp which would be great..

I know what you'll say...pull a box... I love flatbeds ...

Default Untarped

North of Houston off I-45, I think, there's a company making landfill liners, no tarping on those, but don't know who specifically totes loads for 'em other than O/O.
The steel mill (Ameri-Steel?) near Midlothian sends out i-beams w/o tarping but again not sure who totes their loads. BOL

You should find a company that pulls curtain vans. You still get to flat-bed but tarping is as easy as pulling the curtain back and securing it. I loved pulling a curtain van, made life way easier.

I understand where you are coming from. I just started pulling a skateboard 9 months again and I love it
but I hate tarps.

I have looked at that place every time I go by there and I don't hardly ever see skateboards there but I see dry vans. I've seen a few pulling that stuff but mostly OO's. Landstar pulls from a couple of places around Houston that don't require tarps. Several companies just pull drill pipe out of Houston that don't require tarps such as TMC, EL Farmer, Dent, Passmore, ya da ya da,..... but you gotta tarp the sheetrock backhaul.

get on with one of the companies that have the roll-tite. lots of steel coil places have those type of trailers.

If you want to pull a flat bed you will probably have to do some tarping. If you don't want to tarp, then you can either pull a covered wagon, curtainside or Conestoga. You may also find a company that pulls step decks. You may still do some tarping, but it is usually less than with a flat bed.

At Hunt we only tarp 17% of our loads through the course of the year. We haul alot of Farm, and construction equipment.

We utilize flatbeds, stepdecks, and RGN trailers.

If you have any other questions please give me a call

I did a midlothian load this week and it went to oakwood, GA. But I am with Maverick and if you dont like tarping, dont come here. Not only does our tarps have to protect from weather, but they want the tarps to look like a christmas present when we are done.

sir,

if your interested? there is no tarping here.

hey guys...i am looking for a driver for a 48' flatbed running pipe local/otr. mostly hauling pipe. need someone that has a few years with pipe experience and can manage the truck from pipe yard to pipe yard. need someone that can pass a DOT drug test. I will consider some felonies but nothing that concerns women or children or repeat offenders. if it was a one time event long ago i can work with you. This truck is leased out of iron Horse Trucking in Houston, Tx and they are a good outfit with plenty of work. I pay 45% of net income. Thats what is made after fuel cost and the 5% they take from me for plates.

A little about who I am. My name is Mr. Lorfing and I own American Orange Trucking LLC. I am not a trucker driver nor have I ever been one. I work for the Houston Fire Dept. and have for the past ten years. I have many family members that are in the trucking business. I own a 2005 Frieghtliner that I keep well maintained along with a 48' Great Dane flatbed. I have no desire to "be rich" but I do want to see my little company grow from one truck to maybe five or so. I am an honest person and wish to run a clean side business. I do not want any illusions about what I am or am not. If you work hard for me I ill make sure for I do the same for you. I have no benefits to offer yet, but I can offer a man a chance to make a honest living. If your interested give me a call 832 339 3580.
