Averitt Express, I am in training in truckload for another three weeks. Very selective company. Very conscious of image with customers. Wear uniforms while on duty. Good benefits. Vision plan looks very good.
Maybe I haven't been with them long enough for your benefit.

no problems, good deal, best of luck to ya. I've not heard anything bad bout them, in fact, the recruiter that im dealing with now - Angie Sells is a jewel, she seems very trust worthy. Only problem I kinda have personally with them is they seem kinda restricted bout there freedom & independance ie., no facial hair except mustache, uniforms, strict rider policy etc. part of wanting to truck is the "independance" of it u know. I understand completely there concern bout image etc. but that can be controlled by a less strict nature. but it may be a small price to pay for a good company to start with.
Thanks man,
Youngblood
Ps. I may see ya around if I go there - January

I have a neatly trimed beard, and if they wouldn't let me keep that, I don't want to even talk to them.
Had this beard longer than I've had kids..... out of 5 kids only 2 left at home, and not long till they are gone.
To many companies out there to have a restriction like that

The reason for the beard thing is not the looks. It is due to the fact that you may have to haul hazmat, or go into companies that may require you to don a mask in an emergency.
Blame your insurance company, they are god out here, and require you to shave.

Key word is "May". Thus there are other companies that "May Not".
Also, Ive worked in places where "Everyone" had emergency masks clipped to there belts, and beards were not an issue. Some of the workers looked like they could have been ZZTop. Like I said.. to many companies out there to have to shave just for them.
So to answer the question your thinking in your head.... Yes I would pass up on that job just for my beard. Plus my wife would kill me if I shaved.
Sorry about hijacking this topic.

yea I've been thinking bout those issues - facial hair, uniforms, rider policy. Heres my conclusion I think although I'm not ruling them out by no means though. The facial hair & uniforms falls under same catagories - I could get over that maybe but It is important to me about takin along friends & family (brother, gf, her kid, dear ol' mom - if she could deal lol, my dad - he's n x-driver of bout 30 yrs. u know so what do u guys think ?

As I said in a reply to you on another thread, Crete has been a wonderful experience for me in the 7+ months I've driven for them. Not perfect, but great. I simply could not ask for more helpfulness, support and understanding from a company than what I've experienced thus far. Crete is not a hand holding company. They treat you like the driving professional you are. Communication is a two way street and they expect you to communicate with them as needed ASAP, so they can make any needed adjustments. I hope that helps.
