Default JB Hunt or Celadon...?

Can anyone tell me anything about either of the above? I see that Celadon hires out of CA but I don't see a terminal much closer than TX or IN...

Check out the many post on JB Hunt, and of course, any news you can find on the other. Make your decision from there....most drivers have already posted their opinion on JB.... including myself. Now i can't talk about the others, but I'm tired of typing the same post over and over again.

Good luck with your decision.... and be safe on the road.

Can't really see too much that was posted in the last 10 pages that was relevant...mostly about O/Os and where the terminals are...

I guess I was looking for more current relevant info for new company drivers 8)...

Right now might not be the best time to go to Celadon. Don't get me wrong, it's a good company, but unless you want to do a lot of sitting, I'd wait awhile.

I just spent 48hrs in Laredo waiting to get a load. Me and probably 200 other Celadon drivers.

It's to the point right now where I'm probably am going to be forced to change jobs for the simple fact that I can't afford to have a job where I only drive a few days a week. My 48hr 'sit' came after being on the road for 6 days and having 40hrs left on my 70hrs. Last weeks pay was $118 (672 miles in 7 days). They did at least pay me layover for the 48hrs of sitting - $50 total. YAY!!!

Then you need to contact Sheepdancer...he is a recruiter for JB Hunt...he can give you the most current information on that company.

Just shoot him a PM, and he will get back with you.

Good luck with your endeavor.

I use to drive for celadon a few years back(owner operator) they were pretty good, ran alot of detroit/port huron to laredo tx and NC/SC to laredo, but then it all went down hill, they built terminal just south of dallas and miles went into the tank, plus i got tired of 44k cigarette loads when they bought highway express, unless you run team there isnt alot of West coast freight, when its close to your home time, you will run to laredo then sit and wait until they have a load getting you home, it sucks now at celadon  JB hunt has the freight

Will have to agree on a lot of sitting with Celadon. My son had 2 of the worse weeks this month with them. 2 weekends ago in the FL. panhandle, and last weekend on the east coast.. Lucky he got another 1K bonus this week or it would have been a a sour Xmas.
He does not have to sit to long in Laredo for some reason?? And if he is close to home time, they let him come home from there, 248 miles.
He left out of Laredo yesterday, an overnight stop. He has a new DM, so maybe things will either be better or worse?
