Default Barr-Nunn (New) Mancester, PA. Terminal

Anybody know what this terminal will be like to work out of . Told it will open in January. Is Barr-Nunn a good company to work for. How is there North East Regional to drive on. I don't have any North East experience. What would be your suggestion........

Bibcheese, we have a very steady supply of northeast freight and our nearest terminal is in charlotte n.c. so i guess tyhey are opening that one due to the large amount of activity we have. Running out of that area you would be able to stay pretty busy and should never have trouble getting home if you do OTR. As for the northeast regional, when they hire for that, to my knowledge everyone on that region is on a $900 a week salary. They do a bunch of dedicated customer freight on this team and you get sure thing pay and dont always turn a lot of miles so the drivers on that deal are usualy pretty happy folks. Talk to a recruiter about that but i am about %99 sure Northeast regional is strictly salary pay and I wish they had it down my way.

o.k. thanks. i appreciate your help. I think i will go back to crete though after 1st of year. I really do like crete. I felt very comfortable there. They said they will re-hire me. they have a regional run that i will get home most week ends. thats really all i'm looking for right now, due to family situation with kids.Barr-nun is very tempting though being terminal is right up the street. not sure if i would be cut out for all N.E. regional all the time now that i thought about it. thanks..............

You can do a lot better than Barr-Nunn. They can't hold a candle to Crete.

Crete is a DECENT company ,but if you have a decent record and a few years of experience then you have many options equal to Crete or better . Now it doesn't matter if you're not exactly a newbie or not if you have been out of driving long enough to require you go to driving school you will be considered a NOOB in the eyes of insurance companies ,and thus limiting you to starter companies again... Oh and not that this applies to anyone in this post , But on the NEWBIE topic driving a Box truck does not constiuute experiance equivilant to a Combination vehicle of a 70 ft length ...I rember the straight truck drivers in CDL school ...absoulutely no better than a begginer who never drove a tractor/trailer before ...

New England is $975 a week with Hazmat or $910 without Hazmat. Or you can elect standard mileage pay. The short haul bands are pretty nice. They have a lot of other neat little things to boost your pay.

I don't know about Crete. Seems like they are sliding. I base this strictly on it's massive recruiting campaigns and it's taking drivers straight out of school.

I almost went to Barr-Nunn a couple months ago (Ohio Regional), but decided to try something different - yanking tanks.

Good luck!

Just curious if you have worked for Barr Nunn? Cant see how you would know this if you havent. If you have then that is a fair statement for you to say according to your personal experience...then again that may just be your experience. I would never say Crete doesnt hold a candle to Barr Nunn because i have never worked for Crete...But I can say Barr Nunn drasticly improved my financial situation in life and has been a very good working home for me....better than Crete? I dont know havent worked for them so i wont say. Although the thread starter was asking about his area and Northeast.....and i will challenge and say that i can almost gaurantee Crete wont promise anyone in any region $975 sure thing pay a week which Barr Nunn does for Northeast regional....thats a good gig, i dont care what company is offering it, especialy considering the low mileage that region drives. Not a bad way to go especialy for people who already live there and are used to the driving style.

Any way, long story short, dont say they are hands down better if you really dont know. Thread starter didnt even ask a question about Crete. Just thought i would point that out.
Barr Nunn...best company hands down? I dont know....good company? Yes.
