Peabody,
You say you're "a very quiet spoken low key kind of guy", so that may be the problem. Remember, the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Have you spoken to your fleet manager/safety about the rider policy? I seem to recall reading somewhere that they do accept common law spouses with proper documentation. If you haven't, it can't hurt to ask before quitting. Just a suggestion. I didn't mean to imply that you have a "bad attitude" or that you're a problem driver. I just meant sometimes we get POed and say screw it before working through things is all. It's amazing how easy some things can be resolved if we just go about it differently. ie through the proper channels/department/people. You have as much a right to post your opinion here as I and although I may not agree with you, I do respect it. I was just trying to help is all. I wish you the best of luck at your next employer and hope they're a better fit for your needs/wants.

I'm quiet but not a door mat,I believe in speak quietly but carry a big stick so to speak.Have checked all avenues and the answer was a flat no.So I will move on to a company that respects me as a driver and has a little more trust in my judgment.
And as a side note pay ain't that great per mile at Crete, I have made the same at another company and was allowed to have a power inverter in fact about half their fleet the trucks come from the factory with them already installed a refrigerator w/freezer,micro wave,as big a tv as I wanted,Mr.Coffee in other words the creature comforts,Plus their insurance pkg.is the best I have ever seen, when I left them insurance cost about $32.00 a month thats right a month, and covered every thing almost 100%.Any one could be a rider free.Like you have said about Crete not a perfect company but a extremely good company. My complaint about them seems not such a problem now,you know the old saying the grass is always greener.

Peabody,
You may have another issue on the rider policy. You say you and your lady teamed for a while, correct? Another aspect of Crete's rider policy is no one, not even a 'legally married" spouse who holds a CDL can ride as a passenger in a Crete truck. To ride in a Crete truck with a CDL, they must be an employee of the company.

I would agree that their rider policy is too restrictive but for the vast majority of the drivers out there a companies rider policy doesn't even factor into the equation. Rider policies are rarely a make or break issue. On the issue of creature comforts, it has been said many times by many people that the companies with the best trucks are hardly ever the companies with the best pay. Not even close.

My,My are we a little angry?
You sound just like the people I have to deal with at Crete they wouldn't believe the driver if the proof was staring them in the face.I do not have to prove myself to you or anyone. The fact is what I have stated here is true for me and if you are happy with Crete thats all good. And yes I'm not happy here at Crete for many reasons and yes the deal breaker for me was the denial for me to bring my wife aboard. I can but won't tell you the names of any companies that I know for a fact that are better why, upset your happiness with Crete.

How convenient for you. I stand by what I said. You won't because you can't.

I really shouldn't even answer you at all, normally I'd just ignore some one of your caliber.
The question here wasn't about other companies it was about bibcheese getting poor miles at Crete I answered that and than some. If you would be so kind as to tell me what you find so great about Crete I would find that very interesting. How long have you worked for them, how long have you been a driver, have you worked for other companies? The reason I ask is you sound like a child having a temper tantrum and I didn't buy into my own kids tantrums and I won't buy into yours. "

OK this thread has already been hijacked so I'm gonna toss my 2 cents in. Anyone who has followed this forum at all knows that I'll tell you flat out I'm happy here at Crete...
That being said... I think the honeymoon is over... I've sat for 41 hours this week waiting for a load. I'm not the type of guy to jump ship right away but if this doesnt get better and I mean soon I'll be yankin a tanker real soon. And no I don't want to hear I have a bad attitude or I'm lazy or a truck-stop hero because you don't know me. I work as hard as anyone who works for this company and believe it or not I'm like peabody, as far as my demeanor goes. Don't mistake kindness for weakness in other words. I will not be a door mat for Crete or any other company. That being said, if I'm not home for xmas the sht will hit the fan.
