 Gotta hand it to ya Twilight nice post !
Now will ya hire me ?
no accidents, no tickets, 30 yrs exp. But here's catch  last two years my employment history went to chit (strike one) in Nebraska losing everything and moving back to Los Angeles to try and rebuild. Currently employed with a company I sed I would never work for. But had to swallow my pride and do it. (wife wanted me home more often)
I have did tank, flats, step, double drop, van, reefer, kozad, heavy equip, dedicated, hauled anything from Ice Cream to Jet engines. never late. Another catch. I will only accept the best in a truck, I am spoiled and high priced.(strike two) but I get the job done and understand customers are most important and always rite

Ive have tried to explain the way life works to mr smooth, just cant reach his mind. He is bitter and full of hate can not play well with others, he is dumb.. A dumb arrogant truck driver, his statement of changing screen names is wrong, he can get booted.. Because of his ip address he can change. I have yellow driver friends i ride my bike with and a brother in Columbus who is a driver, ther down to earth and not braggerts.. So plz. dont let not smooth represent all yellow drivers, there making a living the way they want 2! My current job i should make 65 2 70 k, im otr. The way i want it. I could haul 4 yellow or roadway. Its not my style, also i came into this world broke and i will leave that way, but sure, Lived Life!

Twlight

I have to respectfully disagree on the inverter policy. Heartland is being cheap and claiming "safety".

Given than Heartland in a regional carrier and will have drivers sitting more than average the extra fuel and shorter battery life is the real reason.

Requiring the shop to do the install and UL/ETL inverters versus letting Billy Big Rigger DIY I can understand. Having worked in the solar energy field I have seen plenty of very dangerous 1/2 arsed electrical work.

If you can't trust the techs in you shop to install an inverter how can you trust them to work on breaks or the fuel system?

Default twilight lies

ok twilight 120k miles for a 2300 average dont work dude

4 weeks times 2300 is 9200 a month

or are you saying your drivers dont take any hometime

if you take 4 days a month

thats 48 days a year 12 times 4 = 48

for ease thats 49 days or 7 weeks off a year

52 minus 7 is 45 weeks

2300 at 50 cents is 1150 a week

is 51750

not 59k

keep lying twilight

i work at crete and make 41 on practical miles

i average 2700 a week

i average 1100 a week

best week was 1350 on 3300 mi

since mid april i have put 82k on my truck as of 20 nov

frieght is supposently light right now

yet i still avg 2700 a week

and i have time to play here

practical miles

thats where its at

What your saying there tbarr is right , and that's averging 50cpm . The Regional drivers top out at 45cpm and not all the OTR guys make 50cpm , when you take out the miles your driving and not earning thanks to the ripoff drivers cpm system , instead of 50cpm , it's more like 42cpm , same as Crete , except Crete actaully has a ton of trips over 500 miles , Heartland has next to none .

4.No power inverters allowed in trucks
Actually, I agree with this one on Heartland's side. It's a safety issue, through and through. We've had several trucks over the last decade burn to the ground because of an improperly wired inverter. We had a truck here a few months back that was smoking from front to back from some of the most eye-popping wiring you've ever seen. The truck was a deathtrap and luckily someone called it in and tragedy was averted. But one of these days, a driver is going to die when his truck goes up and that's not something we want to see happen.

What about the shop installing it, since I know that will be the next question. Same thing applies...what happens if a shop employee installs it wrong and the driver dies when the truck goes up? Again, not something we want to see happen
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't understand this one myself much either ...The wiring for an inverter is Simple ... And the only way to have a huge fire easily is to use to small of a gauge wire for the install...Now as for the shop installing a simple inverter wrong ,and it being a potential danger to the driver ,and equipment...If the shop can't install something as simple as an inverter how can they service the rest of the truck safely without there being a daner to the driver .

Qual-coms are also not factory from the manufacturer of the trucks ,and therefore they must be wired into the trucks electrical system ...It's the shop that usually install the qual-coms ...could not a fire result from bad electrical connections from installing a QUAL-COM ?
