How many miles do you guys get a week? On average? Min/max? HHG or practical?

That depends on how long you stay out. I would say 2200-2900 taking weekends off at home and 2500-3500 staying out on weekends. Some people run harder than others and every week is different. Also depends on experience, new guys couldn't do this right away but maybe after 3-6 months on their own they could.The most I did was 3500 leaving Sun nite and getting back very late Fri nite. My Avg was 2600 and off weekends.

When I stayed out 2-3 weeks at a time I generally ran 2600-3400 miles per week playing by the rules. It just all depended on how many live loads/unloads I had in that week vs drop and hooks.

When I started going home most weekends I ran between 2100-2600 with most weeks falling around 2400-2500.

It also depends on the company you work for. With PAM Transport I was from 1200 to 3500 miles a week, averaging about 2300 miles. You were out about 4 weeks and then 4 days at home. With McLeod Express I am 1500 to about 2500 miles a week, averaging about 2300 miles again. I am out about 5 days and home about 2 days.

The amount of miles you get will depend on the average length of runs, live loads/unloads, and how long you sit waiting to get re-dispatched. It will also depend on the amount of time that the company gives you to complete the run. McLeod gave me a 295 mile run and 29 hours to do it. I tried to get the delivery time moved up, but the receiver would not change the delivery time. Sometimes you can unload when you get to the receiver, sometimes you have to wait for a certain delivery time.

The best way to judge miles per week is to figure out what companies you would like to work for and ask several of their drivers.

Here's what I've done lately. Jim Aartman is a food-grade tanker carrier that pays practical route miles and is 100% no touch, whereas Superior Carriers is a chemical tanker company that also pays practical route miles, as well as pays for everything else work-related...:wink:
