How are recruiters compensated for finding drivers for trucking companies?

Here are some information seeking questions for recruiters or experience truckers on the board.

1. When recruiters get drivers for trucking companies how and when are the recruiters compensated?

2. If the companies train the drivers, do the trainers get paid when the drivers get their CDL, or when the drivers complete their training on the road with a trainer?

3. What happens if after 6 months, for some reason, a driver decides to leave the company or is fired, what is the status with the recruiter?s compensation?

4. What type of agreement do independent recruiters have with trucking companies?

I am just trying to get some information and appreciate your assistance.

Well, Im not going to post what I make on a message board but I can tell you how I personally am paid.

Im paid a salary plus commission.
Im only paid a commission after the driver gets first dispatch.
(LOL ...some drivers will tell you different, but we are not paid ANYTHING to get someone in orientation)
The amount of commission depends on the job I put the driver in, some pay more than others. Example: Im paid more for an OTR driver, than a local dedicated driver.
We are given leads that the company has and many recruiters just use those. A few of us recruiters have our own websites and also pay for leads out of our own pocket from other websites. I can tell you that even though I work for a large company (JB Hunt) I spend well over 1000 bucks a month of my own money for other leads and my personal recruiting website.
Independant recruiters usually have to pay for ALL of their leads.

I am looking from the perspective of an independent recruiter. I do not need information on dollar amount as that is something that can be negotiated with a company. The recruitment will be for OTR drivers only that will be working for at least 12 months with the company.
