Owner-operator thinking about moving my truck to Heartland, either the Florida or Southeast (Atlanta) fleet, motivation is pay, home time, and a desire to run only the Southeast. Any informed advice will be appreciated.
My second choice would be Crete, as they have a terminal 15 miles away.

Go to Crete.... Frankly, thats a no-brainer. Not trying to insult you, but consider this:
Heartland: HHG Miles, heavy, heavy loads. Don't reimburse squat. Crete: Practical miles, varied loads, load choices, reimburse much more. I've talked to Heartland drivers over the years. I think I would rather bag groceries at Publix than drive for them. Crete....I would drive for, but I like where I am....CFI.

I am just trying to figure out why you want to sign on with these companies that don't pay squat!? Why not look at something like Landstar? Or better yet why you don't run under your own authority? Why price yourself out at bargain basement prices when you can be more selective and get paid what you and your truck are worth?
Frankly if you have your own truck your in the catbird seat near as I can tell. Why not make the most of it instead of selling yourself short? Longsnowsm
