So, are you saying Crete does not allow a minifridge or inverter in their trucks. I can't believe that. I'm thinking of moving to Crete .08 cents more per mile over Celadon and practical miles ($10K per year). But I'm not going to put up with no inverter or fridge!

Don't confuse mini-fridges with plug in coolers. Mini-fridges have to be hardwired. You can have up to a 400w plug-in inverter or you can have Crete hardwire a 700w inverter, but it has to be their inverter which you buy from them. You also have to pay them to install it.

 

What is the price for this? If you want PM me so I will know. I'm due to go to orientation this week.

 

Is the 700w inverter a new development? Seems like I remembered this past spring when I was looking at Crete, the only thing that was mentioned as available was the driver could have a 400w inverter. Is the 700w inverter capable of running a small microwave? I don't have a problem with using my plugin cooler as it seems to work well enough for me the few times I have used it on cross country trips in my POV. I guess it remains to be seen how well it will work for an extended period beyond the couple days straight I have used it so far.

This would be an awesome development if the 700w inverter could run a small microwave. For me personally one of the biggest downfalls with a lot of companies is they won't allow inverters that allow a driver to have the things needed to make life comfortable and convenient on the road. So I would love to hear what the 700w inverter is capble of running without overloading it...

I honestly can't say if the 700w will run a microwave. This is not a new development at Crete, they have been offering this for as long as I have been with them (one year). As far as the price is concerned, all I can remember was that it wasn't cheap. I think the installation fee alone was something like $200. The downside is every time you switch out trucks you have to pay it again (which isn't too bad since it doesn't happen often). I do believe they let you spread the payments out over several weeks as well.

 

Well I can understand the price. They have to pay their shop too. Just like another business. At least they let you take it with you instead of like some companies and leave it in the truck.

From what I can see Crete has whacked a good .03 -.04 CPM right off the payscale according to their pay info in the trucking jobs section of this website ... And that's all Crete has to offer is CPM take that away and you just have low end trucks with Werner tight log system .

there is no comparing a "wavebox" to a real microwave I see drivers attempting get rid of these things all the time disapointed in the item as it is just a warmer at best ...waste ofr money unlesds you just wanty slightly warm ravioli .
