Coachroach,

I like your postings. Very good & alot of response. I do note that Skullitor puns you quit abit. I believe he is a recruiter for England.

As for Central, my son Captain Ron also drive for them. He is a new hire and has been coast to coast for them and presently has no problems with them. His FM has worked with him very well and he gets the runs & home time.

So what I am vewing from an outsider looking in, Central seems to be one of the better companies to drive for, my opinion, I could be wrong.

Keep the postings coming, enjoy reading.

BEWARE THE HR DEPT.

besides double billing me for stuff for 4 months before finally fixing it now they decided to add me to every single form of healthcare/insurance they offer, at the most expensive level. even though I sent them multiple qualcom saying I did NOT want coverage, signing documents declining coverage, and telling them on the phone that I did not want coverage.

Due to this my pay for the last two weeks combined: 620

also on top of this I got my first preventable accident
and my first cargo claim

I knicked a light on a parked trailer while backing in and they loaded me while I was exchanging insurance information, taking pictures, and reporting the incident. anyways they didn't load a pallet. but I didn't find out until I got to the receiver, anyways for a trip that I get paid $420 for one pallet of pumpkinpie mix was missing with a value of.. over $1,200.

Anyways they say in orientation that cargo claims are charged to the driver since they are preventable but I don't know how much they will try to charge me for.

I just got so used to not being allowed on the dock when loading or whatever that I didn't think any to not be there as they loaded it.

moral of the story count your load as they load it.

I only have 3 more loads left but you can bet if those sob's won't let me on the dock to count the freight they can find some other sap to haul it because I won't.

As for the preventable it wasn't to bad.. They put it on my record (i'm sure they threw it on dac) had me take a defensive driving course, and gave me a little road test. The safety guy in fontana if an ex-driver and gave me some really good pointers on backing that actually helps (not like that perfect conditions stuff they normally feed you) plus some log book pointers about some situations i've gotten in that the normal things don't cover. I am actually kinda glad for the experience (minus the preventable that prompted it) I only wish I had the experiance BEFORE hitting another trailer.

Hmm HR says they have a form from me saying I signed up for the insurance but they can't show it to me because of hippa/hipaa

but they are being pretty cool about it and letting me cancel it.

Also that sl&c thing they say doesn't work unless the shipper signs next to where you write sl&c

If they can't show it to you, then it doesn't exist.

So far I have been impressed with my dealings with central. One example is that after my recruiter finalized my hiring and gave me the list of things to bring to orientation. I then got another call within minutes from salt lake to congradulate me into joining the company and also to go over the items to bring with me again to make sure none where missed and to answer any other questions the recruiter may not have answered for me.

Also while other companies would take a day or two to return my calls no matter who I called at central I always got called back within 30 minutes usually sooner. If I asked a question and they did not know the answer they would find out from someone who did.

Soon we will see if they treat thier current drivers as well as thier soon to be drivers.

Hello all!! Yes I am still alive and well...in Denver right now waiting for
a dock time in the morning.

Yes I am still with Central, but I cant really say for how much longer.

I had this nice Freightliner and was given a new Volvo 670 and it has about half the space inside!!! I asked for a Freightliner again and was told that they were not buying anymore and my only option is to lease one of their T2000's or W900's.

No thanks. So I am looking into other companies that dont have mandatory Volvo 600 series trucks.

For the record...Jerry Moyces Daughter runs Central Freight and her Husband runs Central Reefer.

I hear Dick Simons son is starting up a new company accross the street from Centrals HQ in Utah. This could be fun.

Be safe all!!!

Bump
