They can give you a better idea of what rates they are running under and how many miles or weight. 8)
Yup, almost 2 bucks going south, Now coming back north! Thats a different story, could be 1.25.

I dont see trucking as an exempt business. I think the confusion is from workers governed by hours of service laws. If you carry a logbook. If you punch a time card it is not so.

I appologize to the original poster for hijaking their topic but since I got jumped on by the trucking legal experts I am defending my statement.
Sorry, but you're wrong. You obviously don't drive local, if at all.

Drivers, (as a profession) are exempt from the
fair labor laws.Don't matter if you punch a clock or not.

Default Thanks...

Thank you everyone for all of the info! I am waiting to hear back from the local company, they are doing a background and driving record check.. so I'm hoping to hear back from them today or tomorrow! Wish me luck. I really do want to be home, I have a wife and son 2 1/2 so thanks for making the decision clear.

Sorry about that local job. Read the comments I made about PI&I on this thread. Please think twice about going there. A rate of 21% is nothing to brag about and the freight they haul doesn't pay well. What area do you live in and how old is the felony? How much experience do you have?

Sometimes you have to go with a less than perfect company just to get the experience you need to get a better job. It looks like I'm going to have to go with PI and I because I haven't driven a truck in three years and nobody else would even talk to me. Perfect MVR, no DUI's no failed drug tests no undesireable baggage what so ever and nobody will give me a chance. If I had known it would be this way I wouldn't have been so eager to come off the road in 2002.
