Bad Company! My fiance' started orientation with them last Monday, which he paid $120 for, and a $61 Greyhound ticket to get to Kansas City, MO. They got him in a used truck of his choice off a dealer's lot on Tuesday night. (Great deal... 1 year walk-away lease/purchase plan w/$10 buyout at end of year) So he paid for a weeks worth of fuel,(MO to IA, to El Paso, & back to MO) $400 truck payment for the week......
Got back to the yard Sunday morning to find 5 other drivers waiting to have their trucks serviced, who told him to get out of the Co. now! They said SLX used to be Leader Trucking which filed bankruptcy and changed names, and the drivers pay checks have bounced for the past 3 weeks!

He hopped another bus, and is sitting in orientation with Bar Nunn, which is paid for by the Co. Plus a sign on bonus.

I will be joining him OTR in a few weeks. I hope to get my CDL next year.

don't feel bad alot people do that. slx is doing alot of illegal things just like they did when they were ledar. ooida says slx is breaking all kinds of laws,they are even worse than ledar. you would think they would have learned after getting sued by ooida and the drivers.

 

SLX exploited, what is IMHO, a najor loop hole in the regs. A company can get shut down for any number of reasons one day and reopen with a new name and new DOT number the next and basically "eliminate" whatever it was that got them in trouble in the first place.

 

My ex fiance went through the same thing with them, and I was with him on the truck. We were only allowed to chose a truck off the company lot, by the so called 'shop'. It looked great, loved the red and white paint job. It turned out to be the only thing good about it. We would take it back, he used to work on trucks so he would tell them what was wrong with it. They would do what ever they wanted and a week or two later, after working on the truck he would come back and say that is what it was, making it out like he found it. I think that was a money making deal. They say free maintenance, but it comes out of you so called check. WE DID NOT GET BUT ONE OR TWO CHECKS IN 6 MONTHS. WHEN WE LEFT WE 'OWED' ABOUT $3900.00 FOR MAINTENANCE AND BACK PAYMENTS. He drove all the time, had to make him stop, when we weren't on layovers because the load wasn't ready. We were laid-over for 3 days at one place and got fussed at "for not having enough miles to make a payment." he kept saying "it will get better, got to give them a chance." because one person kept telling him to, name starts with a S. May know who I am talking about. He kept promising things would get better. Wrong. I finally got him to leave after another 3 day lay over. But, when we got home--I found out he was messsing around with one of the female 'security guards'. SLX is not a good company. The other post are right. We called OOIDA, the man actually told me-these are his words "Tell him to get the h--- out of there now." I was told they were a company previously owned by the father, went bankrupt so they reopened under the son's name-the one that starts with S. He told me that they can be shut down at anytime. Need to be.

 

Now I see why you didnt have to look at the website I posted. I didnt know these guys were Ledar. They leased over 600 trucks and only 1 O/O ever got a title.

 

Just the other day i was wondering what ever become of Leader out of KCMO now i know i have not seen them on the big road for a very long time with funky colored painted trucks,btw thanks for the heads up.
