Edwards' payback
#1
What do you think about what he did and what should NASCAR do?
While I do not believe Edwards had a case to look for payback, there's a time and place for it and Atlanta is not that time or place, especially not with Bristol, Martinsville and Phoenix being the next 3 races. You have 3 races in a row on short tracks, pay him back then if you so believe he wronged you, not at Atlanta where you can hurt someone at those speeds. IMO, NASCAR ought to park him for Bristol to get that message across. NASCAR is willing to let boys be boys but even then they have to be smart about it and that wasn't smart by Edwards nor was his blatant thumbing of his nose at them by driving the wrong way down pit road. Once he did that he might as well have did what Harvick did at Martinsville in the truck race, pull right up to their office and park. It was bad enough that he attempted to dump Keselowski on the previous lap and missed then came right back the next lap and made it happen. That said, I lost respect for Edwards for that bush league move. He talked about safety afterwards and not wanting to hurt anyone. Yes his intent was to spin Keselowski out but do it in the center of the turn if your going to do it at Atlanta. That wasn't safe at all, my first thought when I saw the A-post gone on both sides as he came down on his wheels was, "Oh *****, I hope he's not dead because that roof is sitting plum on his head." Not that Keselowski deserved it, it was a racing deal to start with. Edwards even basically said that in the garage. He admitted that he was probably more at fault than Keselowski was because he came down and Keselowski already has his nose in there. Should Keselowski stuck his nose in there that early? He's a racer trying to make a pass, nothing wrong there. Should Edwards have come down essentially trying to block him that early? No, he should have held his line, I blame Edwards more there than Keselowski which is why I do not feel Edwards had a case to look for payback. Thoughts? |
