Default Excitement and anticipation in Razorback Land!

Well guys and gals in case you didn't know it by now Houston Nutt is no longer the head coach of the Arkansas Razorbacks. After leading the Hogs to a 50-48 triple-overtime win over the #1 ranked LSU Tigers Nutt resigned last Monday and then on Wednesday was announced as the new coach of the Ole Miss Rebels. And now the Hogs are looking for a new coach and the scuttlebutt is that Auburn (and Arkansas native) coach Tommy Tuberville is the man they're wanting and that negotiations are underway for a suitable contract for Tuberville.

There is a $6 million buyout required for him to get out of his contract with Auburn. And guess who's helping in the negotiations in this deal? None other than Cowboys owner and Arkansas native Jerry Jones himself, plus various Tysons and Waltons from up in Razorback Country. On one of the Razorback forums it's being reported that Tuberville will be offered a ten-year contract worth something like $38 million (give or take a million or two) to coach the Hogs. Stayed tuned; it's getting interesting!

That's interesting.

He may not come to Arkansas. He said that he's not planning on going anywhere. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=3135403

Of course, Nick Saban said the same thing when he was at Miami (Dolphins), and a year later, he was named Head Coach at Alabama.

Saban said he wasn't going to 'Bama up to th day he actually left Miami. Day before the 'Bama announcement, said he was staying in Miami, called a press conference the next morning at Miami to step down as coach and an hour later was being introduced in Tuscaloosa as the 'Bama coach. :?

With the way Auburn has treated Tuberville, it would surprise me if he did not leave. They tried to sneak John L Smith in from Louisville while the season was still going and it blew up in their face when the media got wind of it. Tuberville had no idea the school basically had a contract already drawn up for Smith to take over, all they needed was a John Hancock on it until the media broke it.
