In my league, I went 5, 16, 24, 36, etc. etc. I like the middle, to be honest. But I also agree that serpentine draft picking is the fairest way to do a draft, live or online. Getting that #1 pick is great, if you want to Get L.T. But then you're waiting until #20 to get the next pick. On the flip side, if you get pick #10, you also get #11. So it's a good way to balance things out in the end.
The only time that 1-10, 1-10, 1-10, etc. is fair is if you are in a keeper league and your pick order is based on last year's league record...ie. biggest loser picks first, next-to-cellar picks 2nd, etc. and so on. The only other fair way to do things is a completely random order for each round, as long as the whole league agrees to it.
