Ok, now they are going way too far, From Yahoo Sports:
Quote:
Daytona 500 winner Kevin Harvick can no longer wear his Shell logo adorned helmet, after complaints from Sunoco, the official fuel supplier of NASCAR. The helmet must be redone to feature a less prominent Shell logo. Earlier last week Harvick was asked by NASCAR to wear a jacket over his uniform during Daytona 500 introductions, according to sources.

No new fuel suppliers are allowed to sponsor NASCAR's teams, according to Sunoco's NASCAR deal. Shell-Penzoil was allowed to join RCR and Harvick's team as promoting its automobile lubricants.
This is getting way too political. Started with Victory Gate a few years ago, errr I mean, Victroy Lane. It is Gatorade Victory Lane but the celebration is sponsored by rival Powerade. Caused a big ruckus with drivers who were Pepsi sponsored drivers(Gatorade) having a Coke sponsor behind them(Powerade sign.) They would either knock it down or simply move away from it only to have some company rep quickly grab the sign and move behind the driver to get it in the shot. NASCAR told the drivers to not knock over the bottles or signs and instead be more creative in getting away from it if they chose to. Jimmie Johnson put a Lowe's sign of it at Pocono and NASCAR hit the roof about that.

Then RCR has nothing to do with Cingular and AT&T joining together but he is being the one punished by having to find another sponsor for next year on the 31 car. I bet Richard is very quickly getting bent out of shape with NASCAR. He may have to find another new sponsor if Sunoco decides to go the way or Sprint and how they have gone after him on the AT&T-Cingular thing. Time for NASCAR to stop this double-dipping crap and get back to real racing instead of being so political.
