Again if you all can't understand this is a trucker website and you have all kinds of truck drivers. Yeah some can speak very well english and some can not. YOu have some that can type very well & some who can't. You should not judge someone on the biass of a computer unless they deserve to be judged that way.
If everyone on this board/thread would vistors more welcome I think there would be more left for discussion. THat's just MHO .I can however attack several on this board for many reason, BUT I WON'T. I am not that low .Be a good girl, youre no saint....lol

I MEANT to say UNLESS you sit there for 8 hours (or more) it will count against your 14!

But, I WAS a bit hard on you, and I apologize! Have you seen the commercial where the girl and her mother are debating her phone or something, and it's ALL in text abbreviations? I actually think it is funny, but I don't want to see it replace English! As IF it matters anymore.... I think what the trainer meant was that, unless you spend 8 hours or more on line 2, it is NOT considered a "break" in your 14, and therefore CAN limit the time you will have left to drive on line 3. Perhaps, he thought that YOU thought that ANY time shown in the sleeper COULD be "made up" or "used again" for driving. Your example WAS a bit hard to follow, but your logic is sound if I understand your meaning of "made up." You DO seem to understand the HOS okay, and I was wrong to say otherwise. Be safe driver.

Also... I tend to forget that MOST drivers have to do alot of qualcomm comms. I send maybe 4-6 "macros" a week, almost NEVER requiring "comments." But, when I DO use comments.... I try to txt msg to shorten them as well.
I'm just an old putz who can't stand this whole "text this message to this number" crap that I keep hearing on TV. AND.... there was a thread on here a long time ago, about drivers texting family or friends, while DRIVING down the road!! Heck... I can't even SEE my keypad without my reading glasses on!  Good luck with the new job!
