BC! You're finally going to do it?

Have you checked with the BC DOT to see if they have and spread axle restriction or axle weight limit on the spread axles? I can't say about BC but some western provinces do.

I'll be leaving L.A. (Carlsbad) Saturday afternoon. Drive safe.

I'm heading up Rt5 in Washington "STATE" into BC to Langley which is right over the border.

I got a pretty decent rate for such a long haul out of New England. They called 3 flatbed drivers but none were allowed into Canada because of criminal records. Then, as usual, they called me at the last second on Monday morning and agreed to my rate.

From what I hear, rates are pretty damn good coming out of Vancouver.

You should've went through Canada :)

Hey Steve

There isn't any problelems with takeing your spread axle trailer into BC ??? I thought it was taboooo ???

Oh Yeah I just saw on the news over here that Paris Hilton is looking for a ""NEW FRIEND"" !!!! LA is only 1000 miles south of Seattle ????

I did call last week and they verbally told me it was ok and referred me to the law which says a 10' spread is fine.

I'm curious though. Who checks this? Does the border crossing or are there weigh stations?

Heading into the snow now.

Spread tandem axles

7.24 Despite Appendix A, a person may, without a permit, operate the semi-trailer of a 2-vehicle combination with a spread tandem axle, if the interaxle spacing between the 2 non-steering axles exceeds 185 cm but does not exceed 307 cm, provided that the sum of the axle weight for both axles does not exceed 9 100 kg.

[en. B.C. Reg. 95/2006, s. 3.]

They have weigh stations in Canada, just like down here in the lower 48. I have never had anything but my documents checked at the border. Of course, they also ran a background check on me.

They'll probably raise an eyebrow when then run a background check if it shows my security clearance.

I have like 15,000 on the truck and it's great to have a light load for a change going on a long run.

Snow is coming down here in NY so I think it's time for a snooze.

Did you find what you were looking for Gman?

GMAN 02-25-2008 11:18 PM

Not yet, Steve. Your truck isn't going to know how to act without a lot of weight. It should improve your fuel mileage.
