Not sure exactly how lenient states are with a spreadaxle or stepdeck, but some states are harder on enforcing bridge weight limits than others. A few years ago I was overaxle on the tandems at the truckee scales by 300lbs and they would NOT let me leave until I broke the seal and took 7 50lb cases off the rear since it was 6 inches overbridge. That same year I got ticketed at the Joplin scales in Mo. going east for being 2600 lbs overgross AND overaxle on the rear and wasn't allowed to leave until that extra weight was taken off the rear. The ticket for that in Mo. was 250.00 and NO I did not have to bobtail to the courthouse and pay cash. They give you 30 days to mail it in and it does not go on your record.

must be trucker math? :? :?:

You can be legal on ALL your axels and still be over GROSS with a spread.

12,000 steers, 34,000 drives and 20,000 EACH axel on trailer.

that can total 86,000

So when you are rolling over the scales if your axles are legal and they dont add them up.....well you see what i mean.

They should just cancel the Super Bowl this year and just hand over the trophy to the Patriots.

Back when I was running hopper bottom, I had situations where I had to meet a truck at a scalehouse so we could transfer product from one trailer to another, because they wouldn't let the truck leave overweight.

Well, this is a switch. My GPS led me right to Lowes warehouse. Big huge driveway with a friendly guard who let me into the massive parking lot. Very clean place and well organized. I think I'm going to live here!

My appointment to unload isn't until 12:00 so I may be here for a while but no big deal, I don't have any plans to go anywhere today other than a truck stop.

The T/A in Limon where I was last night has to be the worst truck stop I've ever been in. Everything is falling apart, leaking, cracked and the bathroom smells like horse crap. They are building a brand new Flying J right down the road so I'm sure that may be the end of this place. I have a feeling T/A will raze this facility and put up a new one and that's why it's falling apart.

That was a fairly decent truck stop when Ripp Griffin owned it. I really hated to see them sell out to TA.

Petro sold out to TA ??? So now all you have is FLY-N-J ( UGGGG) n TA (UGGG--UGGG) !!!! Petro was my favorite place . I hope they never change them over to TA !!!

I think it's hit or miss with any chain of truck stops. I've been in all the different ones and they all have dumps and they all have outstanding ones too.

I dropped off at Lowe's and all went well then off to a truck stop for some chicken, of course!

I ended up talking to a TMC driver while waiting at Lowe's and he helped me take my tarps off and roll them up. We got to talking and he said that ever since the son took over TMC they have become very cheap. I can't remember what brokerage firm they took over but I think it was CH. He said they give all the good paying loads to CH, broker them out then give the left overs to their drivers. He said he used to make $1.35 per mile and now everyone is making about $.83 per mile.

So here I am on the outskirts of Denver and relaxing for the rest of the day then who knows where!!
