Steve, Thats a fine temporary fix, but you should solder, and use a shrinkwrap with adhesive inside that activates with the heat (the best) or use a butt connector,fill it with dielectric grease, then put the shrinkwrap on it. It seems like a lot, but like said before, nobody likes electrical problems, and done right the first time, and you will likely never revisit the same location twice.

I built a cable for my inverter the other day (I was changing it from directly hooking up to the battery to going through a master cutoff switch that I have on the truck), and I started with high gauge wire, put copper connectors on both ends (soldered, of course), put heat shrink on top of that, then put the entire thing inside a conduit. Not only do I know that I'll never have a problem with that cable and DOT won't give it a second look, but I also can rest assured that a mickey-mouse electrical connection like Steve just created (for the second time) won't be burning my truck to the ground.

It only took three pages for this thread to become laughable. I'm just glad that Steve doesn't like me enough that he'd never park his truck next to mine overnight. I'd hate to see my truck burn to the ground thanks to his shoddy electrical work.

I find this funny. You guys want me to use grease, solder and shrink wrap. I think maybe you missed the application. These are the 3 wires at the end that do not connect to anything? Why would I want to strip a wire and then solder it to nothing? There is no copper showing, it's the end of the wire. Why would I want to put a connector on to connect to nothing? Why would I want to disassemble the whole wiring harness that came with the lights and replace them with marine wiring? A little much to much to do about a problem that doesn't exist.
