It seems that they are doing well, however it would be interesting to see whether the fsc is the primary reason for their increased revenue or actual growth. Without seeing the balance sheet or p & l it is difficult to see whether they are actually profitable and to what level or simply generating a lot of revenue. Revenue doesn't necessarily translate into profit. Many carriers can show increased revenue from the higher fsc collected from shippers. It seems that they have found a niche and managed to develop a good shipper base. They have a good strategic location for their market. All too often some people assume that a company that achieves a high level of success, especially within a short time frame, does so due to illegal activity. It could be that they were successful by starting with a good cash reserve and a lot of sweat. It takes a lot of effort to achieve success. I am sure all of the partners made sacrifices. Success is rarely achieved by accident. And most achieved their goals by the sweat of their brow.

One of the owners donated to Hilary, hate to ruin it for some :)
Aurelio Aleman Information Requested USA Logistics Canins Updated Q1/2007 Hillary Clinton $1,700 2008 4405 S H ST Mcallen TX I'll say one thing, these guys have a good plan; I'm surprised it hasn't happened before. I heard a news story not too long ago about some chicken company in Mexico that is becoming huge, I think they are even listed on one of the Exchanges here in the States. They haven't started exporting to here yet but they plan on doing it soon. Information in and of itself is useless unless you know what to do with it. I think I read that these guys, U.S.A Logistics, have 25 years in the industry so they knew what to do with NAFTA. I always wondered why too that one of the American companies didn't partner up with a Mexican company and "share" trailers so instead of crossing into the border and swapping it to an American trailer they just don't drop and hook. Maybe that does happen now that I think of it. I don't know what they do with stuff after it crossed the border. If so much is coming into Laredo, how come this is no freight in Laredo? Who is picking it all up? By the way GMAN I hope you do this dispatch thing, all the time you have invested in this industry should be profitable to you. |
I understand that there have been some mergers or partnering by U.S. and Mexican carriers to skirt the law, just as there has been similar partnerships between some U.S. and Canadian carriers. According to a Celadon driver I spoke with a few months ago, they are already operating in Mexico and the Mexicans are doing the same over here. Frankly, I think this has been going on for some time. The problem is that it isn't being discussed.
It looks like I am proceeding on a very limited scale with the dispatching, Merrick. There are some things to be worked out, but I am getting involved with it on a limited basis. The way I am approaching it I will see if it will be profitable for me and those whom I will dispatch. I don't want to take on more people than I feel comfortable working with starting out. I still need to keep my own trucks moving. Right now we seem to be doing better than a lot of folks, but rates still are not what I would like to see. |
I'm glad you got started GMAN and think it is wise to start of slow (of course you don't need me telling you that :) ). I know you've probably gotten 50 private messages requesting your service, but I'll just say it here. If you do decide to do reefer/dry van freight I'd be willing to jump on board.
Either way I wish you the best in this new venture. |

I'll second that...awfully naive

Notice it says only 150 of the trucks are KW T660's. What are the other 350 trucks?
|
The majority of their trucks are Pete 379's w/ fairings. I believe this is the same company we're talking about in the link. White trucks, right?
|
Yep, they're not profitable ENOUGH: they're TOO far from making it to the largest in trucking 100 list!
