What's the insurance has to do with it?

If the cargo gets damaged the insurance pays for it. So what difference does it make to the broker whether you have experience or not.

Rank,

You post a bond or a line of credit instead of insurance. It comes out cheaper if you don't have any claims. If you have claims you eat it, but you get to keep the cargo so you can resell it and recover some of the loss. In a sense, you become your own insurance company.

It's not about getting damaged cargo paid for. Consignees don't want to ever have to deal with an issue like that. If a plant has to shut down because you damaged their load the payment to cover the value of the freight doesn't make a drop in the bucket when compared to the true cost.

This tread has gone to hell in a hand basket. Steve is doing one hell of a job for some one fresh out of the gate, you are only as good as your last job, try hauling livestock and see if getting to your drop with deads gets you more loads? as for insurance up here you dont run a truck with out it amen. so Steve keep on keeping on and let all the paid by the mile steering wheel holders be what they they are want Abe's

Yes, that's how it is!8)
But let me ask you a question, would you recommend, somebody like Steve, to some of your best customers, if for some reasons, you are not available at the moment?
Everybody runs the business the way they see it, and I'm sure there is a lot of brokers, who can only live one day at a time, and don't care, as long, as they could move the load at a profit.

You see Steve, reputable company, wouldn't even hire you, as a driver, so what make you think, somebody with hard build reputation, would put it on the line, by offering your services to some of his best customers?

And i have no idea, how they gonna run a "check" on you, just posting an opinion! :?

Please tell me English is not your first language...................

So it's just for for cargo then?

I know some guys at OOIDA use that service and the people are charging 25-65 per load, i am really interested in this since around September i am going independent and 70 per load is nothing compared to 10% my friend is getting charged. Do you have any reccomendations?

Thank you.

Before my question gets lost in all this nonsence let me quote myself and bring it up to the top.

If I could convince my niece to do this type of service I would recommend her, but she doesn't want to get back into trucking. I don't have any personal knowledge of any one in particular. There was a girl who's dad was an owner operator and member of OOIDA who offered a service. You might check on their forum and ask. I have no idea how good she is or what she charges. If you are not a member of OOIDA, let me know and I will see if I can get a name for you. Sorry for the delay in answering, I have been on the road and haven't had an opportunity to answer.

Rank,

It can be for liability too, but most people won't be able to qualify for $1 million bond so that's why I used cargo as an example. For some it will work and for others it won't.

18 pages and close to being locked again.

Once more, people are going to disagree over certain things. No problems there.

Insults, on the other hand, are not acceptable and if it keeps up, we'll shut it down again.
