What reputation?
You didn't got any, not in this business anyway!
And that was a slam based on a fact! :P

Not sure what that means???

Please explain how these people check your reputation, I would like to know since the only thing they cared about was my email and the type of truck and trailer I had. They didn't ask for ANYTHING else so please enlighten us all.

Do they check like TMC, Mercer or Market Transport when I hauled for them? Hello Steve, you available? Yes, great, here's a load.

So far every single person I've dealt with does not care about any reputation, how long I've been doing it, how old my equipment is. Big or small company.

You got a truck? Yes
You got insurance? Yes

You got the load.

It just bugs me when some of you make up stuff like you have to be the ultimate trucker before someone deals with you. Not true from what I've seen so far.

So please tell me how they check my reputation. Details please. Keep in mind they only have my email address.

I don't want to get in the middle of a argument, but for as many years that i have been doing this, your reputation was made on doing quality work for someone and the reputation within that office builds. The only other thing someone does is check your safer stat, insurance, some may ask for some names of outfits you have haul for in the past, but even that is few and far in between. However there are no absolutes in this business, what happens to one person may never happen to another.

I know some guys at OOIDA use that service and the people are charging 25-65 per load, i am really interested in this since around September i am going independent and 70 per load is nothing compared to 10% my friend is getting charged. Do you have any reccomendations?

Thank you.

Before my question gets lost in all this nonsence let me quote myself and bring it up to the top.

Yes, that's how it is!8)
But let me ask you a question, would you recommend, somebody like Steve, to some of your best customers, if for some reasons, you are not available at the moment?
Everybody runs the business the way they see it, and I'm sure there is a lot of brokers, who can only live one day at a time, and don't care, as long, as they could move the load at a profit.

You see Steve, reputable company, wouldn't even hire you, as a driver, so what make you think, somebody with hard build reputation, would put it on the line, by offering your services to some of his best customers?

And i have no idea, how they gonna run a "check" on you, just posting an opinion! :?

Nothing personal against the new guy, but no i would not. However i am not disagreeing with your thoughts on the subject, the smaller brokerage or a person working on there on tend to be very particular about who they give loads to.

I think its time to put this debate to bed!!!

Wasn't Steve's last load brokered from TMC? As long as you have cargo insurance what's the big deal. Either they get paid by the customer or insurance company.

My question is why don't some of you become self insured if you're so low risk? I know a guy that saved up 40k by doing it.

What's the insurance has to do with it?
BTW Half of the TMC drivers, the same rookies as Steve, so i guess, it wouldn't much matter to them! :D
