Rev, Am I missing something here? I must be, I know I don't get to check in here often but why do say it's truckers math? I believe Steve has some background in money management?? ( I think) If nothing else it's enjoyable reading!!

Keep going Steve, there's nothing like OJT

Because Steve-o is notorious for his truckers math. Not including deadhead in his rates he posts to pad the amount he is actually making per mile is just one of his tricks. If you do some searching, you'll find where he actually admitted this (unless that would be in all the posts he deleted in a huff a while back). After all, there's a reason this thread is titled "part 2".

Soon to be part 3!

Nope, no money management this time. Just plain lucked out. The scaffolding company has this stuff rented out for Monday so it has to be back at there warehouse by Sunday. Chances are, I'll be the one who takes it on Monday to where it's going.

Yes, Tootie is correct. I'm being paid both ways. They must have this stuff back in town. The broker said she had 2 more loads that they couldn't get a flatbed for either.

I need to fuel up this morning then get my truck and trailer scaled to see where I'm at with the addition of the Rigmaster and new trailer box. I used to be 31,600 but the Rigmaster was 360 pounds or something like that so I'm hoping I come in at 32,000 or less.

I like the fact that more and more brokers are going the direct deposit route. You just scan in a voided check and fax to them and bingo, you wake up one morning and notice more money in your account.

I swear, Phoenix is the worst traffic I've ever seen in my life. I mean, it can be 10 in the morning or 2 in the afternoon which in my opinion should be slow times. Every single highway and street is jam packed with cars. It must be a parking lot at rush hour in the morning and at night.

Something was going on yesterday as I left the city. I saw 3 cars on the side of the road with the bomb squad searching there cars.

I went in to fuel up at Flying J and handed my Visa debit check card to them and they wouldn't take it. I handed my Flying J card to the cashier and told him to send it to management and tell them where they could put it. I'm wondering how much longer before they cave in and start accepting Visa again.

Well, time for a show, fuel and scale and hit the bumpy road. I love the wide open spaces. Going to be a nice ride today and tomorrow.

Flying J has their own MasterCard. They supposedly stopped taking Comdata several years ago because of their fees. If you find a Flying J that takes Comdata they are probably a franchise. Most are in the Northwest. I would say that the franchisees will still take Visa. I think it either has something to do with the fees that Visa charges or the fact that they want drivers to use their MasterCard for purchases. According to what I was told, Comdata was charging the carrier and vendor a fee. Flying J didn't want to pay the fee. They started their own bank and fuel card program. They issue TCH cards through their bank. I would not expect them to cave on the Visa issue. They haven't on Comdata.
