I want to be able to haul some loads in & out of Canada but I need to know what all is needed? Do you have to have a separate insurance policy for Canada. I checked with my insurance agent & he said my policy would not cover it. What is everyone using for insurance? Will I need a passport?

Yes, definitely need a passport unless you have a FAST card. This was asked a while back and nothings really changed since.

The current statement from customs says you must have a passport. The SCOTUS has written a decision that if you prove you are a resident and citizen, they cannot deny you entry. So based on that fact, just your drivers license and birth certificate are acceptable.
And before anyone tells me you can never get it to work, yes you can and I do use just them. You need a scac code for getting into the US and the respective customs account as well. Unless this is provided by the customs broker or carrier if you are leased on to someone. You need a PARS code and connected account for going into Canada. Marine Carriers Who is you insurance through? Or be getting a different carrier from the sounds of it. |
