Not sure what you're talking about here. So far as I can tell after hundreds of loads, there is no relationship between the pickup point and whether or not the freight is traveling in bond.

You will need a Canadian customs invoice for the load going into Canada. No passport is needed to get into canada, but you will need it to get back into your own country. Canadian border agents are nice people. The U.S. Agents could use some training on being nice to the people who live here. Shut your truck and lights off at both borders. The people i haul for use A.J. Horne for loads going in to Canada, and Deringer for U.S. Bound loads. It's harder to get back into the States than it is to get into Canada.

Rank is correct and Allan is confused. Since the freight is going into Canada, staying a short while, then returning back, it would go under a Carnet (pronounced "Car-Nay"). I've done a show tour that had a stop in Canada.

A "Carnet" is a customs document used for items that typically travel the world as the "Carnet" is a universally recognized document. I would be more apt to believe the items were brought in under a TIB (temporary import bond).

ps:I'll take Allan's advice crossing the border over most folks here>he knows his chit!

P.S., believe what you want. I'e done cross border HHG, oversize flatbed, and several carnet required loads from a quick impor-export, to impoted goods passing through Canada. I'm not saying Allan is wrong, but I have been crossing the border for years doing a bit more (but including) the PARS/PAPS deal with freight.

The first time you go over they will on the Canadian side search your vehicle including any lap top computers as I found out the hard way! They will look through your stuff in the truck so make sure you dont have anything on board that may be illegal. Also if you forget about an arrest when you where only 18 and say youve never been arrested before, hold on to your drawers cause they will find out everything youv'e ever done! Thats when the fun begins!
