I haven't noticed personally, but have heard on Road Dog a while back that companies are doing this to legally avoid the new emissions standards. You can legally put an older engine in a glider and you now have an almost new truck.

My brother in-law drives a company truck (new Mack, Mack engine) and loves it. It gets far better fuel mileage than his last truck (Cummins ISX)

all i can say is good for companies doing this!

i'm waiting to see what happens with the gov't putting a mpg rating on the new trucks. if its somewhere around 7mpg i'll build a glider. no idea how anyone drives a new truck that you can not hear the turbo! i'd love to build a 386 with a pre emissions isx.. i'd love to put my whole setup in a new truck but i dont want to mess up my mpg! lol 6.78 out a a c15 mbn motor.. not doing 55 either.

anyway, i do love the macks. they're a good looking truck. isnt the new motor basically a volvo motor?
