Just run an extension cord, run it across under the cab then in thru the passenger side door. The rubber will seal around it.

I'm thinking of 2 truck batteries wired together with a large inverter wired direct with the outlet accessible to plug in a microwave for use to heat something such as

you will kill the batteries in no time, the smaller the mirco the better but i can tell you that a 1000w mirco will run 4 batteries down to 12.5v in less than 2min.
2 batteries would be less than 1 min so with 2 batteries a 600w micro would run about 3-4min than how would you recharge them..? also remember that recharging batteries give off explosive gasses...! under your bed......!!!!! instead get a wavebox mirco it will run off a 12v power plug.

They sell batteries that don't give off gases, they're becoming popular in R/Vs for that reason. IIRC, the leading brand is Optima, or Optimus or something like that. Warning, Will Robinson, warning - they're not cheap.

I realize this thread is more about inverters than coffee but just to offer a review of the percolator I bought, now that I've spent a week on the road with it. It makes great coffee but it might just be more trouble than it's worth. For starters it steams up the inside of the truck. And then there's the problem of what to do with the red hot pot once you've poured your coffee and you're ready to roll.

With a thermos I could see it - make a whole pot in the morning and be done with it, but even then... ?

I'm going to store this in a special place though and next time the NE has no electric for 4 days I'll at least be able to have good coffee.

Good grief you obviously haven't tried this Flood. I do this all the time and the batteries crank like nothing ever happened. Coffee maker too. Been about 5 years on these 4 batteries. No problemo.

buy a little 2000 watt honda gen for when you want coffee or run the micro or tv or lap top and then put it in the jockey box when your done. DOT allows you to carry upto 8 gallons of fuel. but check with your company first i see lots of drivers with them small honda gens.
