Default When Is A DOT Inspection ACTUALLY Due?

The current sticker on my truck exterior says "8/10" (no DAY given) as when last Inspection was done. My Dispatch says that I am past due. I say, with no exact day given, it should reasonably be assumed to be good until the very end of the month. Who is correct???

IF the sticker was properly filled out, there should indeed be an exact date on it, in "indelible" (sp) ink. BUT.....by the last day of the month is the right answer.

Actually, the blank for the sticker does NOT have a place for "day". Only month & year.

Your hard copy of the inspection should have the full date. If the hard copy just has the month then it expired at the end of july.

It's good practice to get a DOT more often than the required yearly.

The hard copy does indeed have the day, but I contacted someone at the Florida Department of Highway Safety & Motor Vehicles, and he confirmed what I believed to be true; my Inspection is good until the very end of the month.

Furthermore, I looked up federal regulation 396.17, and it states:

"(f) Vehicles passing roadside or periodic inspections performed under the auspices of any State government or equivalent jurisdiction or the FMCSA, meeting the minimum standards contained in appendix G of this subchapter, will be considered to have met the requirements of an annual inspection for a period of 12 months commencing from the last day of the month in which the inspection was performed."
