Default COMTRAK or WHT?

Anyone Know anything about Comtrak. I'm looking to make a major change here with-in the next couple months. I need to make more money and be home. I know that an Oxy-moron, but I believe it can be done. I've heard Containers don't pay, but I beleive I can make just as much pulling Containers as I'm making now running out to cali and back. Fuel and company cutting rates are killing me.

Any suggestions?

I have a friend who has been leased to Comtrak for several years. He likes them, says they are easy to work for as long as you operate legally and safely. They will install a Qualcomm-type computer in your truck. They also offer an impressive fuel discount if you fuel at certain locations, it has been between 15-25 cents per gallon at times when I talked to him. They sound like one of the better container companies, relatively speaking. He likes his dispatcher and seems to be able to run the way he wants to, within the legal guidelines.

He runs Nashville, Tn to Knoxville, Tn and return every night. For a couple of years he ran Nashville-Memphis and return every day. He does not run to the ports. Most of the Comtrak trucks here in Nashville run Memphis turns, not many port runs out of Nashville for Comtrak. He told me his wait times are not bad, usually an hour or less to drop-hook at the Memphis rail yards. He typically grosses 2000-2500 per week, running 4 or 5 days per week. During busy times there are Saturday runs available. This is all info that pertains to Comtrak Nashville, other terminals may be different. I think Comtrak has a website, there may be info on there.

I too have been thinking about ComTrak or ContainerPort.... I did containers for 4 years and liked it, and my dedicated gig is pretty sweet right now, but daily hometime is a HUGE plus for me right now.

Very true, but I also don't need to make anywhere near that kind of money. 6hr days, 4 days a week is good enough for me. I'm not looking to set the world on fire, and not having any bills helps make that easier LOL

Just got off the phone with them. Pay is 1.05 loaded/.89 empty, and then add National FSC. They do have Qualcom in your truck, no charge to you, Escrow account is $1000.00 wasn't sure how they took this out, used to be 100 each week for 10 weeks, Comdata Card, charge 2.00 each time you use it. Paid weekly, no maintenance on trailers you haul, breakdown punch it in through qualcom. Mostly Dop and Hook, if multi stops you get paid extra for this. You must lease on with them, get your own plates, turn logs in weekly
I am sure there are alot more stuff I should have asked, but was just trying to get some info to get started with.
