I'm about to go from company driver to O/O and I'm choosing a name. If the name ends with the word "Express" will that limit me by indicating to shippers that I'm running a LTL operation? eg Roadway Express
I'm going to be doing TL, LTL, willhaulfordonuts, whatever pays the bills. Last edited by MichiganDriver; 12-07-2010 at 12:15 PM.

There are a lot of carriers who use express in their name and are not LTL carriers. You can call your company anything that you want. By the way, some of the big LTL carriers don't use express as part of the name. Roadway and Yellow Freight come to mind.

I agree with GMan, its just a name. US Express is a good example, and Western Express too. Just try to steer away from using only initials, seems like thats the foreign trucking companies thing? I know when I worked for Alcoa, we steered away from using the companies with initials cuz they almost always had Russian/Polish/Chekz drivers. Not that they were any less of a person, just hard to communicate with and usually had poor equipment. Then again, the opposite is UPS
