Default What Ever Happened To The D.O.T. Air Pressure Maintain Requirement?

I remember when going to truck driving school in 1991, there was a D.O.T. requirement for a vehicle to maintain air pressure; i.e. you applied something like 30 PSI brake pressure, and vehicle main tank pressures should drop no more than X number of PSI in one minute's time.

My new (2006) Volvo does not have a gauge for main air pressure tanks nor for applied brake pressure either!!! ops:

Without those gauges, there is no way to verify D.O.T. compliance (if it still exists, that is).

What is up with that?

All kinds of mechanical/electrical violations on the old one and proud of the lack of repair.

Violations? I passed my latest D.O.T. Inspection with flying colors, and my current Inspection was still current. You are simply blowing hot air!

Vehicle is not so equipped from the factory. All it has is an audible & visual alarm when air drops below acceptable (probably 60 PSI).

They probably figure the average idiot from a three-week truck driving school would only get confused if he has too many gauges!!!

Nothing could be further (or is it farther?) from the truth. I attended Mid Florida Tech in Orlando from sometime in October, 1991 to near the end of December, a full 8 week grueling course, where each & every pupil personally drove a minimum of 2,000 road miles each. We took trips to south Florida, NE FL, SW FL, and an overnight trip trip to the panhandle.
