How Often Have You Had To Have Your Fuel Injectors Or Fuel Injector Pump Serviced?
Just curious. It is possible that my truck with well over one million miles has NEVER had any service done on either of those items. I got the truck over 5 years ago, and it had 538,000 miles on it. I put another 528,000 miles on it, for a total of 1,066,00 miles and I've had no such service done.
On a few occasions, while I had the truck in the Volvo shop for other reasons, they'd tell me they're running a special on fuel injector cleaning, and I'd always say "No thanks. It runs fine, makes no black smoke, and my MPG is right where it has always been".

On my Detroit I always change the turbo out every 250K miles becuase it's much cheaper to do at home than on the road ($750 from dealer at home compared to $1500 at the TA or Peetro)
I just had a 6-pack done on my S60 at 501K miles and it bumped my MPG up a whole 1.2, but they didnt NEED to be changed.
1 million miles and the heads were never off your truck???? Thats an awesome deal, hope the new truck can do the same for ya. Tho you went from a pre-EGR to an EGR motor now didnt you?

I don't think so. Volvo must have been one of the 1st to go with EGR, since my '01 had one.

Once again... it did. Because I had the "EGR cooler" replaced one time. It would not have been necessary w/o an EGR!!!

Doh! You're right!!! :tears:
One summer, when my son (15 or 16 at the time) was riding along, it was a hot day, and he asked "Dad, when are you going to overheat your truck?". Within two hours, my fan clutch went out!!!

Steelhorse, is this common to replace the turbo in a detroit every 250K. The reason I ask is my turbo has the hick-ups. Seems like every time I hit a hill the turbo goes thru this hick-up motion, like it not getting a clear air flow.
