If you go around the scales and don't get caught it won't cost you anything.

I'm not much for going around things. Besides, it's not me on this load and I can't bring myself to ask someone else to go around. Do I need a KYU number still?

I said it in jest. I don't like going around scales, either. If you don't have a KYU number you should be able to purchase a trip permit at the port of entry. You may want to check to see if you can get one prior to entering the state. I have always had a KYU numbrer so I have not had to deal with a trip permit in Kentucky. You should be able to call the first port of entry and see if you can purchase one there or if you need to contact the state office in Frankfort. If you buy a trip permit you should not need a KYU number.

I know Gman.

After I opened this thread I started to get this vague recollection of having a KYU number at one time....so I called the number in the atlas and gave them my DOT number.....they say I have a KYU number from years ago. Then I ammended the cab cards to add the dirty double taxing SOB state so we're good to go.

thanks
