looking at a older volvo full side farings, stand up sleeper exposed fuel tanks super 10 (blah), 11r 22.5's 3.36 gears, 3406e (435hp). my loads could really vary. running max at gross.. or MAYBE 15000lbs max. i short shift anywhere from 1300-1500 rpms. what do ya'll think?

Although a number of factors affect your fuel mileage, I would guess the truck should get somewhere between 6.5 -7.2 mpg.

I will bet you 5 bucks it wont get over 6, if it even gets that

you need to have history reports pulled from the computers on the trucks you are interested in, they will tell you the average mileage along with a number of other things

You have a bet. I have a friend who had an older Volvo and he consistently got 6.8-7.2 mpg. I have two trucks with the same engine and both get over 6 mpg. One averages 6.29 and the other averages 6.91. The Volvo is more aerodynamic than either of them so he should get at least as good or better than my trucks. :thumbsup:

It is not expensive to have someone connect to the truck ECM. It should not cost more than about $30-50. My local CAT dealer has actually given me a printout for no charge.

how can it have FULL side farings if the fuel tanks are exposed?

yeah kinda thought about that again.. lol i forgot the big sleepers (early mid 90's) all had cab farrings.
