Default Mike3fan, Maniac, tankers...

Hey,

Please tell me about emulsion, that really thick latex glue.

1) Are you willing to use your pump to pump it?

2) If so, how do you do it without wrecking your equipment?

I found out the hard way to carry three gallons of water and some ammonia to the jobsite so that I can fill up my Roper pump as soon as I'm done. That way, the glue won't dry. And, I've learned to get a caustic wash and not settle for having them spray out the pump with their high pressure hose. There's no telling what this stuff will do to my hoses over the course of maybe 4 or 5 hours getting to the tankwash.

Even so, the last time I was doing it, my one year old pump that I haven't used all that much started leaking out the input shaft, I guess the packing. I don't know what that is going to cost.

I was reading over the owners manual to the pump, supposedly they make them with a pressure relief valve. I've got to inspect and see if I have one, and I don't know what it is set at if I do. I have a bypass that I kept completely open at the last jobsite. It took 5 hours to pump off into 2" hose with 20 psi in the tank and the customer (jerk) was getting nervous about the time. I closed the bypass part way and it was later that it started leaking. Going in at 3" and out at 2", I'm guessing that I put too much pressure on the pump.

Do you guys pump this stuff off? Is there a way to do it without tearing up your equipment?

TIA
