Default Some software questions.Acrobat reader

I know this was discused about a year ago but I missed finding the thread.

I am pretty much computer literate. At times I do recieve documents via email and would like to manipulate the software by editing or filling out the document without having to print, fill it out and then
scan or fax it.

For ex....My company is requesting cert. to haul coil. The doc. is in PDF, I would like to add my saved signature(I have stored from a powerpoint doc.) , fill out the rest of the form and attach it to my email and then resend it without having to print, fill it out and then scan it.
I know I can do this by converting the PDF to BMP(bitmap) and then use the paint brush feature and then save it back to PDF.
Is acrobat editor the only solution and will this from ebay do the trick?

There are other pdf editors, but adobe's is the most feature rich. Not to mention depending on how they saved their PDF, you may not be able to edit even with adobe editor, unless you have the key they used to save it with. BUT there are other editors out there that can get around that.

BTW 99% of the time that is what I do, convert it to an image, then use photoshop or GIMP to add in what I want to add in.

haha I just looked at that ebay link, it isn't even adobe's editor, it is a collection of PDF tools you can get online yourself for free.

Yeah, you can't edit a pdf with adobe reader. What I normally use is Cute PDF. It allows you to save a different file format as a .pdf.

I will assume you convert it to a bitmap file and then use photoshop for editing and then convert/save as
back to pdf for an attchment to the author.

CUTEPDF is a pretty good tool as I tried the evaluation version, but think about all the money you would spend for the more than average computer guy.Cutepdf wants $49 for the software and I can think about countless software I will need in my day-to-day activities. That will be soo much money spent. They want too much..
Where the heck is my limewire account/DOWNLOAD.COM for a free download.

For years I printed, filled out, scanned back in and faxed. (using an internet fax service, Trustfax)

It was doubly troublesome for me because I have a flat top and the only place for my printer/copier/scanner is under the bunk. I asked around for a long time about a program that would edit pdf files, but either got free ones that did not do what I needed or I refused to buy expensive pdf editing programs.

I found out about this software and it solved my problems for $99. It works great. I can sign, fill out, and edit pdf documents faxed to me by customers. Then I can fax them right back, all on the laptop, no printer involved.

I posted my reply and then I realized that you had made another post.

If you don't want to spend $49, then you sure don't want to spend $99.

For me, it was worth the money. I don't spend much on computer software. I generally keep things simple and all in the line of work.

Nitro saves me a lot of time and aggravation. Printing out, filling out, signing, and scanning back in takes a long time on my all-in-one, and I have to lift the bunk in order to reach it.

One excellent feature of Nitro is the extraction feature. If you receive a fax that has 10 or 15 pages, but you only need to fill out, sign, and return 2 or 3 of them, you can extract the ones you need from the rest of the other pages and fax back only those few.

Some of the pdf editing programs that I'd hear of cost several hundred dollars. One program was quoted to me as $499. There was no way I was going to spend that kind of money.

I gave up for a while, and one day when I had a lot of documents to print out, sign, etc..., I looked again on the internet for a pdf editor. Nitro had a free trial. From the free trial, which did lack some features, I realized that the program would probably do what I needed. When I talked to one of Nitro's techs, he explained that the rest of the features would be unlocked with Nitro Professional, the $99 version.

I don't think you are gonna find what you need, to get around printing, signing, and scanning, for free. The only way might be the ways you described using bitmap files and paintbrush, and then converting back to pdf. I don't know how you managed to do that. I never could figure it out.

Nitro works right. You can do all the editing you need right on the computer, no printer involved. You can also save files in the format you choose, Nitro or Acrobat. You can change from one format to another simply.

No, I have a virtual printer driver that I can print the PDF, and it saves it as a TIFF file.
