Mike, I was just shown a picture of my truck at an intersection in Marshall, TX. I remember when the flashbulb went off, I was surprised because I didn't think I had done anything wrong. I was only going 45 mph, but they're telling me I'll be getting something in the mail. My company had all this on their computers and they were the ones to tell me about it. In retrospect, I think the yellow light was very short, and they're raking it in.

I'm told there are cameras all over the Chicago area, and we've already discussed the toll booths. This stuff is getting serious. We know about the cameras in Phoenix.

There's no way a cop would have written me a ticket. I was clearly at the end of the traffic flow and the cross traffic hadn't started. The cameras, though, I don't think they're as much about civil order as they are about punishing imperfection and making money.

How about two turning lanes? Can the inside lane turn right on red?

usually only the curb lane can. it's usually marked as such.

I guess I am behind the curve. I learned long ago, that a truck hauling a placarded load, could not turn right on a red light. Maybe I learned wrong?? Have I been blocking a ton of traffic needlessly??

Aaaaaaah well. To late now.:lol::lol::lol:

Carl.....there is an easier route to get to Texarkana from the south, or to the south of Texarkana, from the north.
Exit 2 off I-30, coming from the north, south on SR245 to SR549, then south to US71. US71 south to I-220, I220 to I-20, I20 west to US79, US 79 west to Carthage TX. Proceed from there. Adds 14 miles to the trip...but is 30 minutes faster.
Reverse the directions if you are headed north. 4 stop lights / signs between US59 @ Carthage and Texarkana and I-30 on that route.:whistle::whistle::whistle: NO Cameras.:whistle::whistle::whistle:

If the signal is a red circle, a right turn on red is legal unless there is a sign saying otherwise. However, if the signal is a red arrow, some states it is legal to turn and others it is not.

I always wait for a green arrow on the special set of lights for a right turn 99% of the time. I look pretty hard for the "right turn on arrow sign" on the overhead beam, as well as by the crosswalks though. This is a gray area, based on state, I think, or rather, local juristictions. Either way, an extra few minutes (usually) won't put you that far behind.

Of course, only owner operators are affected by this, company drivers are exempt lol (sorry Lowrange, couldn't resist)
