It does 7-8 mpg with no problem. The last time I was at the dealer they had a 02 volvo 770 with volvo 465hp motor but pre emission and the ecm on that truck showed 10.2 avg mpg!!!
Then they adjusted the fuel correction in the ecm and it dropped to 5.3 just like my friends volvo

Paper and pencil, dont believe anything anybody says. My W9 gets between 6-7 running the mountains always over gross, yes, believe it.

DANG! I must be a lousy driver! after 24 years in the business, I have never seen a truck that would get over 6.5 mpg consistently. Of course, I have never used an APU, and I DO insist on staying warm, or cool, as the case may be. That means a lot of Idling.

I have taken a 450 Mercedes engine from 5.42 to getting 7.4 using HHO technology, which also added approx another 50 HP, and cleaned the engine in the process, but 10.5? No Way!

I used to love my ISX, but the last six months have been pure madness. i've had several issues that have left me out of service, lack of parts availibility, and parts excessively overpriced!

I prefer the ser 60. as far as the smoking goes. mine smokes. since I had the last overhead done it smokes 5 times worse. but I got much more power then ever before. dont know what the shop did. seems everyone does overheads a lil bit different. so that may have something to do with what you are seeing. as for parts. I want to go with the likely hood that if I am on the side of the road, I can make a call & have parts available, inexpensive & brought out to be installed. det ser 60 is like a 350 chev motor. parts, & people who work on them are everywhere.

over 10 years 1.4 mil miles still going.. no major wok done, still ave 6 mpg winter 6.5 - 6.9 summer.
