Default pass due taxes

I'm a ex self employed truck driver out of Charlotte N.C. However I didn't fill out my 1099 taxes in 03,04,05, The IRS has sent me my 1099's for those 3 years, How would I go about refiling them? Here's the kicker, I don't have any paper work for those years, They were burned up along with my truck in a fire.

You go to a very good accountant or tax attorney, and bring some Vaseline.

:lol2: True 'dat. If the OP had been current with their tax filings when the records were destroyed, the IRS would be much more lenient with their scrutiny.

If you didn't pay estimated taxs for three years and were paid on 1099's then you had better be prepared to pay ten of thousands of dollars in penalties and interest. You might convince them that you lost part of a years paperwork in a truck fire but they aren't going to believe 3 years worth.

I would get on the phone or google and find a really REALLY good tax attorney and be prepared to pay the a few thousand up front before they will even look at your situation.

Or, just move to Mexico, change your name to Juan and don't cross the border ever again.

I didn't pay 1 year's worth one time and it wound up costing me $17,000.00 by the time they were all done and that was only a year late.

With the current administration you may be eligible for a refund.

The IRS got really aggressive during the Bush administration. I would expect the same if not more from the Obama administration. Someone has to pay for all that free money that is floating around. I also expect the Obama people to find some creative, or not so creative ways, in which to punish the trucking industry through taxation. After all, he made a speech during his run where he promised to kill the coal industry with high taxes. I would expect trucks to be at the top of his "HIT LIST." The trucking industry has been a target in recent years anyway. They think we are making a killing and not paying our fair share of taxes.

I am not fond of the current administration or congress for that matter. Frankly, I think that we have more to be concerned with congress than whomever is sitting in the oval office. I am amazed that so many blue collar workers would have voted for Obama with some of the things he said during the campaign. One thing that I could not understand is how he did so well in Kentucky and some of the major coal producing areas when he basically told them that he was going to shut down their means of employment. He has been talking about transparency and allowing the people to see what bills are up and who votes for what yet he and the chickencrats pushed the biggest spending bill in history through without so much as a debate.
