What will the ramifications of the new Emissions rules be for o/o & fleets when they change again after 2010? If you have lets say a 2006 & older engine what kind of expenses would be required to come up to code?

You don't want to know the costs associated with bringing an older truck or reefer up to the new emissions standards California is imposing. It would be less expensive to just forget about going there. Rates are crappy anyway. Unless you want to go out and buy a new truck or spend thousands of dollars to bring those truck and reefer engines to their standards you may as well just take the state off your cab card. Let them send their own government trucks to the border to bring their freight into the state or export it on their own transport. If you are an illegal they may even buy you a new truck and trailer.

So most of the changes will effect trucks going into CA?
LOL that is ok with me anyway. I could careless about running anymore in CA. I keep hearing 2010 & emmission changes coming & wondered what it had in store for those with older trucks.

I've seen a couple of small companies that already have the skirting on their trailers. Sure looks different, but I question just how effective it really is. But, there are a couple of large companies that are home based in CA, and I have yet to see anything new on their equipment. I can't imagine them replacing everything in order to comply by the deadline. I'm about half expecting them to shut their doors, except for the brokerages. I also question how well that skirting will hold up in heavy snow when turning a corner.

Gman, really? You turn a question about emissions into a commentary on some mythical "Rush Limbaugh" illegal alien? Ease off the kool aid
