Default Heads up for anyone heading to Western Canada

Especially Alberta, but including Saskatchewan and Manitoba. We're being massively rationed to 100 litres per day(about 25 gallons) with many places running out. Three refineries are having problems, and one of them will be down for a long time.

If you're hauling for any of these refineries, you better be demanding TOP DOLLAR.

Don't know about SK and MB, but it's really bad out here in AB. Worst hit are the PetroCan cardlocks. Their refinery here is going through some major issues. Surprisingly, apart from the transport sector, no one seems to be talking about it at all. I don't see any mention of it in the news. 2 days back, while I was heading back to Edmonton from Calgary, and stopped to fuel up at Gasoline Alley in Red Deer, I found that Red Deer was completely dry....NO DIESEL ANYWHERE !!!

And this is supposed to be oil country !!!

How the heck are ya supposed to truck? I heard about this thing on the TV news where this guy couldn't deliver fuel to the tar sands because he was out of fuel.

It ain't easy...you better KNOW how much you need & PRAY you have enough to get there...cause you simply may NOT have enough to get back! I went to Whitehorse over the weekend & spent 10 hours in Dawson Creek waiting for a fuel truck to arrive, everyone south of there was completely OUT of fuel!

:eek::eek:
