What is the purpose of having your name on the door?

I like not having my name on my door but rather a business name. It has come in handy a few times when I get to use the excuse of being a company driver when they ask me to do something I don't want to.

Can someone get a business licence in their own name with a FIN#? I see some independents with their real names on the door. There must be an advantage to do so.

Having your real name on the door makes it easier to steal your identity. Especially when you advertise your home town on the internet.

GMAN: For me, there was a big advantage to having my name on the door of my truck...... and I wasn't even an O/O!! The advantage was that after the taxi driver brought me back from "Hooters", and poured me out of his cab, I always knew which truck to stumble over to!!

When you have your name on the door, the lot lizards can call you by name when they come up to your truck and make it feel all personal and stuff.

BTW, last night I filed the paperwork to change my name to Landstar Ranger. You can call me "Landy" for short.
