Default Talk Show Wars.... in a galaxy far far away

I peruse this other board by Kevin Rutherford, I don't agree with everything he says, especially the turbo3000 sales pitches, or ATBS. But generally he gives decent advice..... Well oreida and the bozo are after him now....

OOIDA Trying To Get Kevin Kicked Off The Air!Posted by Red Delta on April 28, 2008 at 11:24pm in BattleBots / Cage Match

Todd Spencer sent an e-mail to his minion and/or shill, The Trucking Bozo with reference to the complaints they are getting about Kevin. Since the Clown has no backbone, he decided that it would just be easier to tell his audience to call up or e-mail Kevin's bosses and complain.

This, in my opinion is such a cheap and cowardly move. Instead of Todd Spencer calling up Kevin's show, or Kevin calling Land Line Now and having a debate like men, Mr. Spencer and The Trucking Bozo feel that it would be easier to try and have Kevin silenced.

The Clown even admits that he doesn't listen to Kevin, he's just forming an opinion on what another person told him in an e-mail. Great agenda, pal.

If you think about it, it seems that OOIDA is for government control on business, and apparently now they are taking a stance on free speech. "If you don't agree with us, you must be silenced." I sort of remember this type thinking...anyhoo, I digress.

To Kevin;

This man has called you out, by name, on the air. You are well within your rights to respond to the audio on your show (this is just my opinion, I would never try to tell you what you should do). What makes it even worse, is that he is on the same (company) team. Nothing like a good back-stabbing.

It seems as though you have struck a nerve. Any decent PD would understand that controversy creates good radio and the more people you piss off, the more listeners you get.

As Larry put it, people who hate Stern, listen just to see what he says next.

To the esteemed members of this fine site;

I, admittedly, have got into disagreements with a couple of people on this site, but right now, I suggest we could put those differences aside and do what 'The Clown' asked his listeners to do.

Call or write XM and tell them how much you love Kevin's show. How much it has helped you. Also, don't forget to ask for Kevin to be on more often. I can guarantee you, if Kevin came on earlier in the evening, it would be the highest rated show on the channel.

Please forgive the long winded post. I got really fired up when I heard this today, (April 28, 2008).

Without further adieu,

The Audio:.

I am not on the road when Kevin's show is on but when he was on Nemo's show weekly I go really sick of him. I turned the radio off when I heard his voice.

It seemed like he thought everyone out there has or should have a two axle Volvo tractor with wide based super singles and 270 gears

Bozo -- I Don't listen to him, to opinionated and political

Bozo's Son -- I listen to him a little

Bill Mac -- For entertainment I like him allot

Nemo -- My favorite. You have to wade through some of the sponsor BS
but the info that is on this show is great.

Kevin -- Click

Just my .02 I hope I structured the sentences properly and spelled the words close.

The only time I've ever heard Rutherford was when he used to do the occasional gig on one of the other shows (when I bothered to tune into that garbage). This was before he got his own show, maybe a year or two ago. He rarely said anything I happened to agree with. He plugged gimmick products and advocated leasing onto "good" carriers that, from his descriptions, sounded like most of the biggies out there. I've never seen anything official about his qualifications or background or any other compelling reason to think he knows what he's talking about. I know he claims to be a small fleet owner. The closest thing to a background on him that I've heard is that he used to run several trucks, lost them, and now runs a couple of trucks (possibly daycabs) leased to Fedex. Like I said, this is all hearsay, but I find it odd that I've never seen anything from him or his supporters detailing his successes. If anyone knows where this information is, I'd appreciate it if they passed it on, since I hate passing on rumors.

As for Bozo and all the other garbage out there...I don't find any of it worth listening to

I would remind anyone who listens to the radio, or watches TV to remember that it's entertainment for sale to the highest paying sponsor.
I take everything I hear with a grain of salt,........let them fight,...it builds character.

Let's face it. Most of the trucking radio talk shows are really, really bad. If you can get a decent host with a decent topic or a decent interview, it's tolerable.

Anybody listen to the Lockridge Report. I've only listened a few times since I don't have Sirius- I've been in someone else's truck when it was one though. That's a decent show.

I can't take the XM Trucking Shows- its like cartoons. So I listen to all the other shows instead.

On a funny note, I don't have the "adult" channels. One of my friends does and he said they always have truckers calling in. Well, duh. Of course it's only truckers- they're the only ones LISTENING to the adult shows! lol. Sorry- I know that's pretty much off topic. I just think it's really, really funny.

Kevin Rutherford's Web Page

I don't put a lot of stock in what he says, but he's certainly made a name for himself.

I've listened to his show since he started on XM. He used to be "cut costs cut costs" but now he is talking about increasing revenue as well. Excluding yourself from the rest of the industry.

He does have access to numbers that none of us have. He works with ATBS and they do tax returns for about 40,000 o/o's.

He also used to be a certified financial planner, a broker, I think at one point he had 15 trucks. When he first started in this industry he went broke very quick when he bought too many trucks. He doesn't sugarcoat it, he didn't know his cost, and worked too cheap etc..

Maybe some won't agree with him, but you know what, at least he gets people to crunch their numbers. I can't tell you how many people call in that have slowed down, Kevin crunches their numbers, and they're saving 15k+ a year. 6 months ago they wouldn't have even considered slowing down.

So many people in this industry don't know their cost, and have no clue how much profit they're making.
