So let's say I'm hualing a load 100 miles my FSC is 0.56 per mile = $56.00 FSC
And my truck gets say 5 miles to the gal. So 100 / 5 = 20 gals
20 gals X $3.93=$78.60 and now take off the $56.00 FSC
So cost for fuel is $22.60 After FSC . So I'm I not paying $1.13 a gal
I'm I doing this right ?
Like Gman says all the time don't haul it if it don't pay right.

 

You are correct! And if you'll get 7mpg, those FSC will actually pay for all your fuel! Good luck on getting those FSC numbers tho... :wink:

Your math is right it's just the wanabe O/Os that you here bitching about fuel price. I figure right now I am paying about the same for fuel as I was in 2000.

 

Thanks, It just did not look right too me. Right now with 26 ton on and dead heading back I'm getting 6.50mpg and if I keep her at 65mph I get 7.25mpg. That's a dedicated run I do with a company truck. Today I was sent back with my load and got 5.50mpg round trip.

 

That's for loaded miles. I'm looking at hooking up with a local company and the deal is 75% of load, FSC on all loaded miles and a % of the tolls. Running the north east.

 

Will that's me :sad: rigth now "wanaba". But I have learned alot reading this forum. The company I'm looked at said I'm one of the few that asked about the FSC.

 

Well I don't know about this wanna be OO stuff but I think it's more of a way for these ""baby"" driver types that want to run leased on to a mega carrier for 85 cents a mile to justify why they can't be a real OO . Also trying to justify being a glorified company driver by jumping every time their leased on company barks for them to do some-thing ??? They feel like they need this company to be leased on to so that this company can tell them what to do n what to haul n for how much and where to because they can't make those decisions theirselves ?? I'd rather just be a everyday company driver without worrying about trying to believe that I could maintain a truck on 85 cents a mile these days and even try to make as much as that company driver makeing 50 cents a mile with no expenses ???? Thats ""IF"" they get a decent FSC in the first place ???

 

I feel to many people just say ok to the company on the 1st offher, and don't do any negotiating. Tha company I'm looking at was at 68% of the load,FSC when they get it and no toll money. pulling their van. After talking to them,long story short. I have them up too, 75% of the load, a $1.00 amile dead head North Jersey to PA,100% of the FSC that they get from the two companys and a % of the tolls. That realy works for me is it;s a dedicated run.Right now they are slow,like alot of others. They will pick up again in the next month.
