Default 2 different dot numbers

can a person have 2 different dot numbers i have 2 different companys a towing and over the road trucks need a diff for the towing company for insurance when i applied it said my social was already on file its two diff buisness need help

If you operate under two separate business entities, then you will likely need 2 dot numbers. If you operate under a single name and authority, then you should be able to use the same number.

gman i need two different one because if using the same one you have to get insurance through same company which is high because tow truck insurance is not covered by most otr truck insurance companys

Well, a dot number doesn't cost anything. I am all for doing what is necessary to save money on insurance, as long as it is legal. 8)

like i said earlier gman for some reason the website wont let me it says that my social is already in the system doesnt make since i no there are other people with 2 or 3 diff dot numbers guess ill just have to call tommorroww
