Default nebraska permit

I see nebraska permits being offered @ gas stations.
A fellow trucker said you get a permit to cross nebraska by feuling in the state.
Is that the case ?
I would be traveling through nebraska this weekend and would like to know if that's all that it takes.

All you need is to have them on your cab card. I have not heard of them charging for a separate fuel permit to cross the state. If you have your IFTA, that takes care of most states.

If you do not have IFTA, a fuel permit is REQUIRED. There are signs on I-80 that will tell you where to purchase. I know that you can get one on I-80W at Sapp Bros outside of Omaha. A cab card is not sufficient, if you do not have IFTA.

If you don't have Nebraska on your IRP, you'll need a temporary permit.
