Of course I might just be getting soft in my old age

FWIW, I work all day everyday year round with an aluminum body and refusing to go off-road.

hey maryland leave it to the MACKS to go in the soft deep stuff. you keep your w900 on the pavement.

Me myself i like steel bodies. Alum may look better. But steel will hold up alot longer plus you can put anything in them. Nowadays they have good lightweight steel bodies.

I don't run aluminum for any reason other than weight. I need as much tonnage on the truck as I can legal. I will NEVER keep a truck until it wears out. To me it is just not worth it to not have a warranty. Once you show me a Insulated steel truck body under 3000 pounds and less than $40,000 then perhaps I might be a convert.

Of course I might be a convert to steel on my next truck because they are not putting heated beds on Aluminum anymore. Gotta have steel or the DPF could melt the body.

The last two dump trucks we bought have aluminum bodys on them and they are hauling 25 tons in NC where as the other trucks with the same specs are hauling 23 tons.

These two trucks are 2005 KW T800's with C13 Cat's 430HP and 8LL transmissions with 4.11 rear end ratio and are getting 5mpg but, on the same haul our 1999 Mack's with E7 Mack's 275HP and 7spd Mack transmissions with 5 somthing rear end ratios are getting around 5.5 to 6mpg.
